APRIL 2009

First off, we have to start off with UNC Basketball.
The madness of March was over and UNC beat Michigan State 89-72, thereby winning the NCAA Basketball Championship.
So, Jon and I did what any sane person would do to celebrate a victory like this....

jump over fires on Franklin Street!

Clearly Jon is a much better jumper than I am...

Believe it or not, the thrill of jumping over a fire dies very quickly.
I don't know why, maybe it was because of the drunk guy that decided to kick one of the fires which almost landed on me and several other people, or because of the drunk UNC college kids that decided to climb up a pole and tear down the Franklin Street sign. We didn't stay there very long, I could only put up with so much 2nd hand smoke inhalation of burning toxic plastics.
At least we can say we were there.

.............

Ever since Mikael's very first haircut, when he was three years and three months, he has always rocked the mohawk. About one year and three months later we decided to try something a little different. We told ourselves that we were just trying to even out his hair so the future mohawk would look better. After it was cut, Mikael went to the mirror, saw no mohawk, and began to cry.
Clearly he loves his mohawk.

Here are some pictures he eventually allowed me to take....

MARCH 2009

Jon and I love adventures. Most of our trips have usually been spur of the moments. It always kept things interesting and exciting...

In March we decided to take a second honeymoon back to Miami Beach.

We went to the beach everyday....

Here's my typical beach bag... yarn, crochet needles, apples, Ugly Doll keychain...

We basked in the warmth of the sun.
We ate good food, especially really good Ital vegan cuisine.
We heard music of all kinds.
We danced on the beach during the full moon in the middle of a circle of drums.

Here I am with my brother, JP, and Jon at Buck15.

.....
We went to an improve comedy show called Laughing Gas with some of my friends.

Here we are before the show.

The show was hilarious!
Especially the part they brought me up on stage for "The Dating Game."
I had my choice of three lovely bachelors;
a New Yorken who lives in a trash can, a Jewish guy that owns a meat market, and Walt Whitman the literary perv.
After asking all my bachelors a question of my choice,
my heart was won over by Walt Whitman as he recited an acrostic name poem for me.

.....

We had the lovely pleasure of staying with one of my soul-sista's, Marcela.

... and I had the lovely pleasure of crocheting a bandana for Tricky (Marcela's dog).
Here's Trickster posing for the camera. She's a natural.

FEBRUARY 2009

As I update my blog from Lima, Peru I'm limited to the pictures and stories I can write about.

One, because most of our pictures are on our computer at home, I only have the ones on Jon's laptop to work with. And two, because I can't remember what went on without pictures!

So... Here's what I think happened in February of 2009.

Dana came to visit!!!

She made the trek all the way from Salt Lake City, Utah to come watch the a UNC basketball game. Which was well worth it considering the Tarheels were AMAZING that year.

Aunt Dana walking on Purefoy Road toward the Dean Dome and the Basketball Museum.

Jon and Mikael like always, playing around, making faces, jumping, laughing.
These two boys make any occasion fun.

What kind of trip would it be without taking a picture of Michael Jordans UNC basketball shoes.

and finally....

AN ODE TO AUSTIN ARBON

I'm pretty sure this is the first time Mikael really played with Austin.

From there a great friendship was formed.
Austin teaches Mikael about Star Wars.
Mikael teaches Austin about Transformers.
They take pride in the fact they both have seen Iron Man and that they both root for UNC, not Duke. It's so funny to see them play and pretend to be storm troopers or dress up in Mikael's several superhero costumes and fight. We really do love Austin!

Thank you Austin for all the fun, happiness and Star Wars you add to Mikael's life!

JANUARY 2009

It snowed!!!!!
This was the first time we experienced snow in Chapel Hill!!

Jon made a homemade sled out of a bin,
which was a perfect fit for Mikael.

Mikael had a lot of fun being pulled around our backyard.

Jon even convinced Mikael to try and pull him around.

Which I'm sure you can guess by the picture didn't work.

Of course we made a snowman, and of course it was a TARHEEL!
